Driving through the vast grass-covered dunes of the Nebraska Sandhills may not make you think you could find anything romantic. You may not expect to find a hidden treasure nestled in the wide-open beauty. But then, around the corner, there it is- Long Pine Creek, clear cool running water, providing recreation and entertainment.

The creek bursts out from the vast underground sea of the Ogallala Aquifer: fresh, cold and clear. Springs along it's 21 mile stretch feed the stream as it spreads it's way through the valley it has created. The creek curves gently through the landscape where tall pine trees sway in the summer breeze and little rapids create an enjoyable sound.

The creek and its environs offer a wise variety of activities. It gives people the opportunity to tube- to float down the cool, clear water on any warm summer day. The water is inviting, no matter what the temperature. Even in the hottest part of the summer, there is a cool place waiting for you with just a few bumps along the way.

The pine, oak, and cedar woods that run along the creek house an abundance of wildlife. Whether you are interested in hunting or simply watching, you can't deny the beauty of the deer, turkey, grouse and other animals that wander among the trees.

So whether you just want to sit back and relax on a leisurely float or just sit there and have the water go by, Pine creek is the place.
